At Gaylord Farm, we raise over 200 Black Angus cattle, born and bred right here on the farm. Our herd grazes on lush Vermont pastures throughout the warmer months, and during winter, we feed them hay grown here in the valley. This natural cycle ensures our cattle are nourished the way nature intended, producing beef that is both healthy and flavorful.
We never use hormones, steroids, or antibiotics. Instead, our cattle thrive on fresh grass, high-quality forage, and supplemental feeds sourced locally, like brewery grains and bakery bread. From pasture to plate, our beef represents the cleanest, most local food you can buy — raised with care, respect, and integrity.

Our pork program features heritage breeds including Old Spot, Berkshire, and Landrace. These animals are raised in a natural, healthy environment and thrive on a unique diet of local bakery bread, restaurant compost, and forage grown right here on the farm. This approach not only reduces food waste but also produces pork that is tender, flavorful, and unlike anything you’ll find in a grocery store.
With 80 breeds on the farm at any given time, we welcome new litters of piglets throughout the year, averaging 10–12 piglets per litter. Our pigs are never given hormones or antibiotics, and every step of their growth is carefully managed with sustainability in mind. Whether you’re cooking a family dinner or planning a full pork roast, Gaylord Farm pork brings rich taste and local authenticity to your table.

Our poultry program centers around laying hens and seasonal turkeys. Our hens arrive at the farm as young pullets and quickly become steady egg-layers, producing some of the freshest eggs in the valley. Customers can find them daily at our farm store or at Mehuron’s Market, where they are a local favorite that often sells out fast.
Each year, we also raise turkeys for Thanksgiving. Starting as day-old poults in August, they grow strong and healthy on our farm, ready for pickup the week before the holiday. Families who enjoy Gaylord Farm turkeys know they’re choosing a bird raised with care, naturally, and locally — a centerpiece that reflects the season’s spirit of gratitude and community.

With 12 acres dedicated to vegetables, Gaylord Farm produces a diverse range of crops throughout the growing season. From early spring asparagus and garlic to fall pumpkins, squash, and root vegetables, every harvest reflects Vermont’s natural rhythms. Our vegetables are grown organically, without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, relying instead on compost created from our livestock. This closed-loop system nourishes the land while producing healthy, nutrient-rich crops.
Harvesting occurs daily, providing peak freshness — often the same day. From greens to tomatoes and peppers, our fields offer a changing bounty. Shop at our farm store or local markets to taste the difference of organic methods.

Flowers are as much a part of our farm as vegetables and livestock. At Gaylord Farm, we grow seasonal blooms ranging from vibrant sunflowers to delicate arrangements of zinnias, snapdragons, and more. Each flower is nurtured with the same care as our food crops, grown naturally and harvested at their peak to bring color and freshness into your home.
Cut flowers are at the Waitsfield Farmers Market and our store. These blooms reflect our soil's health and Vermont’s growing seasons. Whether for a small bouquet or special occasion, Gaylord Farm flowers bring joy to every vase.

Our honey bees play an essential role on the farm, pollinating vegetables, flowers, and fruit while producing golden, all-natural honey. With hives located throughout our land, the bees gather nectar from the diverse blooms of the Mad River Valley, resulting in honey that is rich, complex, and distinctly local in flavor.
We harvest honey in small batches, ensuring purity and quality with every jar. Beyond its sweetness, our honey represents the harmony of nature — bees working alongside our crops, sustaining both the farm and the community. Whether drizzled on fresh bread, stirred into tea, or enjoyed by the spoonful, Gaylord Farm honey is a true taste of Vermont.
